I am really keen to do some scrapbooking but I can't do anything until the tidy up is finished. I am in the home stretch so that is good.
Historical and Modern Needlework
This is some of the new pieces for the Pelican Cloak revamp. Tent stitch done in silk.
I went to Guild's Day today in Sydney. Christine did the driving which is good. We got there just in time and had a slide show of Rowan's recent trip to the UK. Saw lots of cool stuff. There was also a show and tell session and we looked at the progress on the Banner and the new project, the Pelican Cloak revamp.
The Banner is just looking so fab. The photo is above. The various bits haven't been sewn down yet but even so, it looks so impressive. Lots of really hard work by a number of people.
Got a chance to chat to people which is always nice.
We grabbed some food on the way home and I was back by 8.30pm. We took it all pretty slow which was nice.

So I was deparately trying to get this thing done before Guild Day on Saturday. I had the day off work. I had to go to the craft shop because I'd run out of white. Got to the shop - no white!! Bugger. Anyway, this is the progress which has slowed considerably now that I've run out of thread.
I might be able to have Friday off, so I am going to work on this as much as I can for the weekend.
More on the split stitch.
Fours hours progress on the banner piece. I was hoping to have it done for Guild Day this weekend but I don't think I will. I can only work on it for a couple of hours at a time, because it's such fine work and it really strains the eyes.
This is another piece I am doing for the WCOB banner project. The piece is 4.5 cm by 6cm worked with a single strand of Maderia thread. I have to work this under a magnifying glass with light.
Just finished the final of the compass blocks for the Moonglow quilt. Now all that is left is the alternate blocks. But it might be a while until I get to those.
This one is from the Post, which is a free paper but with a pretty large circulation. It was in the 1 Oct 2008 edition.
