Happy New Year

Cleared out the bedroom in preparation for painting. Managed to get all the furniture moved. Couldn't get the wardrobe out, but did get it away from the wall enough to paint behind it and do a proper job on the whole room.

Walked down and watched the 9pm fireworks at the beach. Finally met my neighbour from across the road after about 5 years!! He introduced himself, I didn't recognise him in the dark. The fireworks were outstanding, best they've done in years. I didn't think they'd have fireworks at midnight as well, but they did. There was a HUGE bang at midnight and I watched the rest from the bathroom - had a perfect view!

Getting Ready for Painting

Went to Bunnings this morning and bought the paint to do the bedroom. Also bought a cordless drill (with two batteries!).

Cleared out the bedroom, clothes out of wardrobe, drawers out of cupboards etc.

Persian Coat Lining

Got the lining of the Persian coat done today and sewn to the outer layer. It's now hanging before I do the hem. Still got to reline the other Persian outfit and also need to make some minor chanages to my Elizabethan coat, then all my garb projects will be done.

Persian Coat

Started the winter Persian coat. It's made from the red brocade with palmettes that I got earlier in the year. I sort of want it to be an overcoat, so I am going to line it with red linen, to give it some body. Got the outer side done today. Things got much quicker when you only use the overlocker rather than that and the sewing machine.

Underwear

I managed to get two chemises done today. One for my Anglo-Saxon outfit and one for my Persian outfit. Anglo-Saxon is now done, just optional coat to got. Persian is done as well, just need to re-line one of them.

Boxing Day

Very quiet today. Got a bit of sewing done on my quilt. I need to buy some white fabric to make further progress. Planning to do some garb making in the next couple of days.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!! I had a lovely day. The weather was nice, warm enough to be comfortable but not too hot to enjoy lunch!! I hope everyone else had a great day.

Bargain

I went for a final pre-Christmas shop today to buy some last minute crafty items to keep busy over Christmas. Got a bit of a bargain. I was looking through Spotlight and saw they had some velvet on sale. Most of it was not suitable, being tie dyed. However, they had some nice traditional light olive on the same rack. I double checked and it was only $5 a metre. So I bought all that was left, 10m, couldn't resist when it's normally $25m!! I figure that will be enough to get one dress and maybe something else out of it, maybe a loosegown. Oh, just remembered I have some really nice fake fur, maybe a loose gown with either brown or black fur trim?? Mhhh, but do I use the black or the brown. I think brown would look nicest, but then what do I use for the rest of the trim?? Maybe gold....sage green with brown fur collar and cuffs and gold trim. Sounds nice.

Quilting

I've been slack in posting the last few days. I haven't been doing much sewing and been very busy at work. I've dragged out an old quilt project. Normally, I design all my own quilts but I saw this very nice 30's style quilt pattern and I bought it. Since I am trying to lighten up my rooms at home, I think this would look nice on my bed. So I'm working on it again. I need some more white homespun, I went to buy some from Spotlight and they were out. Luckily, there is enough to go on with for the moment. I've been working on this project for quite a while, it's my train project, I take it with me whenever I head to Sydney on the train. They are quite small blocks, only 4". This will also be my first applique project.

Another Lunch

I had lunch out again today. My Uncle was up from Melbourne to go to a concert. Their plane didn't leave until the evening so they came down to town to have a look around. I joined them for lunch. It was great to catch up.

I then went to Baronial gathering. But because it had rained in the morning, only a few people had shown up. I'd brought along some of my patterns to do a pattern making session in hopes of motivating both myself and others. It only partially worked.

Ladies That Lunch

I had a very nice lunch today with some of the girls from work. We got out every couple of months for dinner. We decided on lunch this time. It was very civilised. Lovely place by the harbour.
