Tidying And Housework

Adam has the flu and so I spent most of the weekend looking after him, poor dear. I also managed yesterday to get my Making Memories Modular Organisation panels up. They look pretty funky. No terribly exciting but I am a storage freak. I also did a heap of housework. No sewing.

Cleaning, Work and Sorting Out

Not much happening, still sorting out and cleaning my room. Into the final stages now. I just have to get some time to actually sit down and scrapbook. Too many things to do and not enough time. I really need some holidays.

No Stitching and Birthday

No stitching last night as it was my birthday and we went out for tea. We had a nice seafood dinner and I got some nice presents. Dad brought me back a pair of really nice amber earings from Santorinni.

I was running a bit late this morning. Another five minutes would've been better. I was half way to work when I found out the Rainbow Warrior was blocking the shipping channel, which runs along one whole side of the suburb where I live! And I missed it! Bugger.

Boy Bluebird

Here is the boy bluebird, I finished him last night. Neither this one or the girl have been washed or pressed. I am going to make the pair into pot holders. I have some nice red 30's repro fabric that should go with it quite nicely. I am still looking for plain tea towels to make the rest of the set.

Vogart 241 - Sally Perkins

Another internet purchase. I thought she was cute. Is Sally Perkins some sort of cartoon character in the USA?

Girl Bluebird

I finally finished the girl bluebird. I grabbed the threads on the weekend, cause I don't normally use cotton thread. She is kinda cute. I was going to scan the back, but I forgot. I will do that tonight (if I have time).

Vogart 264 - Playful Kittens

Another set of Vogart pattern transfers. I got these ones off the internet. I am after the everyday kittens for a set of tea towels. But these are still cute.

Computers and Sewing

We did a quick run to the computer markets (I did the driving while the two corpses in the car were very, very quiet!).

I got the two bluebird patterns onto fabric and started stitching. I really just want to get something done so I am making a couple of pot holders. I need them anyway. I've been looking everywhere for some tea towls to work on but I can't find plain ones anywhere. I will have to have another look this weekend, in the mean time, I might do some work in my nice new clean scrap area.

Cleaning and Bowling

I spent most of the day tidying up my scraproom again. In the final throws now. This is definately one of the those once every few years clean ups. It got so bad I even wanted to go out and start cleaning the shed!!

But the scrap area is clean now. Really clean. Not just pile of stuff moved from one side of the room to another. Things have been completely rearranged and stuff is put away. I even have a couple of empty areas. I am just waiting for the storage stuff I ordered (Cropper Hopper Veritcal Paper Storage and Making Memories Modular System) to arrive and it will be done. I just stand there and look at all the cleanliness!!

On Saturday night we went ten pin bowling. We haven't done that in years. There were a few of us and they played heaps of disco and other stuff. There were prizes for knocking down certain pins and other assorted fun. We had a good night. Adam and a couple of the others decided to hit the town, but I went home. He got back at 4am, needless to say, he didn't do much on Sunday.

Reorganizing Scrap Area

No sewing last night. I had a couple of hours to myself so I hit my scrapbooking area. I put War of the Worlds on the iPod and got stuck in. It never ceases to amaze me how much crap gathers in my work areas. I really do need these periodic cleanups to get things in a workable state. Quite a few things are in a bag for Adam's cousin to take to his child card job. Anything that hasn't been used in two years was put in the bag, so a heap of cheap stamps, a few punches and some bits of paper and off cuts. Threw out junk, bits of paper etc I now have two clean shelves that I can put stuff back into.

I am getting some new storage stuff for my birthday next week, so that should help get my paper organised, it is currently in several different spots, so its easy to forget what is there. The other thing is to put the mostly used stuff within easy reach and the occasional stuff a bit more out of the way.

I won't get much chance to scrapbook this weekend as I have to go fabric shopping on Saturday morning (not for me, I got sucked into a sewing project for someone else) and then we are going bowling on Saturday night. It should be fun!

No Sewing and Challenge

Still no sewing yet. I did a bit of a clean up in my room and organised some fibres for scrapbooking. I also listed a few books that I had cleaned out of my bookshelf. Hopefully they will make a few bucks.

If you've liked the vintage embroidery pattern covers I posted, you might be interested in hoping over to Pam's blog, Kitty and Me Designs. She has issued a vintage tea towel challenge that should be fun. I don't usually do this sort of thing, but I was thinking of doing this as a present for someone.

The Seige Has Been Lifted

Huzzah!

18 July 2005

No Sewing

No sewing this weekend, still under seige from the house guest. Hopefully, the seige will be broken soon!! As you can see below, I've dug out some embroidery transfers that I inherited. While a bit later than usually covered on this site, technically they are historical embroidery! Some of those patterns would be pushing 50 years old now.

I am also planning on posting some images of finished items made from the transfers, but I can't find them at the moment. I think they must be stored down the shed. I will have a search tonight if its light enough when I get home from work.

Vogart 222 - Bridesmaid

This one is cute, as well as the bridesmaid, there are ballerinas and some cute butterflys.

RANT: I went looking on Ebay for more of these transfers. I couldn't find any on Aussie ebay, no shock there. However, there were quite a few on USA ebay. But you have to read the descriptions very carefully, as many of the listings were for PHOTOCOPIES of the transfers, not originals. How dodgy!

Vogart 129 - Florals for Everyday Use

A nice mix of florals, blue birds, and chrinoline ladies in this one, with some words (his, hers, guest) thrown in.

15 July 2005

Vogart 194 - Blue Bird Days of the Week

In the first of an ongoing series inspired by Pams' postings on this subject.....this is one of the packets of tranfer patterns I inherited from my Nan. I've only found three packets. I thought I had more than that, ah well. I like all the ones I've got.

The first is the Blue Bird Days of the Week, similar to Pam's Roster Days of the Week set. I have to say, I am more partial to the blue birds!! I'd love to make up a set of these including the pot holders. I'm pretty sure the set I have is complete, with only a couple of the transfers used.

New Blog - Scrappers Product Review

I've started a new blog, Scrappers Product Review. The purpose of this blog is to do reviews on various products aimed at the scrapbooking market. Please come on over and have alook. At this point, I am reviewing stuff I've bought for myself, so if you have any suggestions for things to review, please leave a comment at the site and let me know. If you are a designer or manufacturer who would like to send me something, details are also on the blog.

LOG Pouch

I haven't done any sewing on it in the last few days, but I thought I would post a progress picture of the Goldwork LOG pouch. This is at about 5 hours work. The pearls are proving hard going. This shows the stag complete and the pearls started.

Progress Picture of Blackwork Shirt

For those who are interested, here is an image of the progress on the second sleeve of the blackwork shirt. This is about 45 hours total (for sleeves, collar, cuffs) of the project. About 16 hours for this sleeve.

I've managed about 6 hours in the last couple of days. Getting to the progress stage which motivates me!

11 July 2005

Progress

It is good weather for sewing. Yesterday was a miserable, rainy, windy day. There are reports of wind damage from all over the state, but especially along the coast.

I got about 4 hours done on the blackwork shirt. Back to the point of making progress again. Having it as a fall back project is at least getting some work on it done.

Not really able to do much other stuff at the moment as we have an unexpected house guest and they are lodged in my craft room. Hopefully, I will get back on track once they go.

I am really keen to get some scrapbooking done and also to have alook at some of the embroidery transfer I inherited from my Nan. It would be nice to do something easy but with a bit of colour. I was thinking of maybe one of those 1940's aprons, the good ones that cover all your clothes. I really don't like these little ones that just go around the waist. Does anyone know if there are modern patterns for this type of apron. I see vintage ones for sale all the time, but they are too expensive. I just need the pattern for the apron, not the embroidery.

I am also thinking of putting up pictures of some of the completed items I also inherited. Technically, they are historical embroidery!

More Scrapbooking

No sewing, but I did another double page layout, for my iPod. I just need to do the journalling.

5 July 2005

Sewing and Scrapbooking

I managed to do some work on the Blackwork Shirt yesterday. I have decided to start taking it to work again. I can get at least half an hour done on it at lunchtimes and it forces me away from the computer.

I also played with my new Making Memories paints last night and did a layout with the photos I took of the camels in the mall last week.
